EPISODE 2 of Billabong Girls Get Out There! - Tarryn Chudleigh's review.
Count the Stars and Watch The Waves: I didn’t Love…. THE TENSION…. in the air it was pretty much tangible I Love….THE MUSIC… I think there should be an Official Sound Track!!!I didn’t Love that moment, at the bonfire, I arrived after an exhausting day at the contest,Everyone was laughing and smiling…… the minute I sat down the vibe soured …..I felt so left out!! Watching that on TV made me CRY, but things CHANGE….you have to turn the page, read the next chapter. I did Love that when I first met the ambassador girls, Amy was the one I thought would be pretty cool….I was WRONG…but then after awhile I was RIGHT… we had a couple interesting moments behind the scenes though!! You always know where you stand with Amy. I like that. I Love that we WON the cook off! Our salad and butternut kicked ass, that’s beside the ice-cream and hot chocolate sauce! GREAT team work!!! Would have gone down pretty darn well with a glass of champagne but yeeeeah, guess the other team had to drown their sorrows I’ll give them that...seriously girls your baked potatoes weren’t cooked!! I Loved the CLOTHES….Yes BEAUTIFUL, B E A U T I F U L, beautiful clothesAre you not excited to rush down to your nearest BILLABONG store and stock up on yourNEW BILLABONG WINTER WARDROBE?I sure am…Those leggings I wore in the shoot are AMAZING do yourself a favour… just DO IT I Loved the modeling even if I just kept falling over myself. I’m world famous for tripping over flat surfaces!!! How do you turn your neck 180 degrees and walk forward, really what wrong with these people!!! I don’t understand how Morag and Nicky look so completely natural, comfortable and beautiful in front of the camera. A couple of those clips took my breath away…And Nicky wore my signature T-shirt that Billabong got me to design, so stoked to have been given that opportunity.... I hope people actually buy it!! I Love pretty things,How pretty was that thunderstorm… you weren't there, if you were no words could describe the incredible feeling... Nature gives me this feeling that fills my body with raw energyA strange and powerful emotion Last night I went surfing in Newcastle Australia, the sunset was absolutely incredible, dolphins surfed with us for awhile, my heart wanted to burst I Love this I Love how happy I am.I Love how I have realized I don't need a boy, money, results or praise to define myself BUT… (a rich boy that wants to spoil and compliment me…. would be nice, ANY TAKERS??) Skinny jeans unfortunately are a requirement, no exceptions!! Oh, yes but back to the show…I Love Adele she makes me laugh…how funny,When she was describing the surf lesson!! I kinda wish I was around the first activation, missed out on bonding with the blue bottles and of cause the girls first surf lesson. I think if I had been around a bit more I could have gotten off to a better start with the girls….then again maybe we would have just fought more? I Love that I know a beauty tip that the models didn’t… seriously girls get your hair wet,I promise you, you will come to love the OCEAN. But maybe leave out the mascara and eyeliner, sea water tends to make it run and smudge!!! Or just try waterproof makeup that’s what I do. I Love simple things Gosh I had such a fun early morning surf and crab-catching session with morag, That morning was rad! Am seriously considering a professional career in human ball rolling and crab catching… PURE GENIUS I Love that we said that… "THERE WASN’T ANY ARRANGEMENT IT WAS A DICTATORSHIP"(courtesy Amy…!!!) "THAT’S WHAT SHOT GUN IS!"(Courtesy Nicky…mmmmm) ”Rewind you Lost! We WON GET OVER IT"! (courtesy Me, maybe a little too gleefully) “SHE doesn’t even help me, I was dying out there” (courtesy Adele, looking like a drown rat) “If I get stung God Help YOU!” (courtesy Tanya…she meant it!!!!) I don’t Love that I won’t be watching this with you guys…still the outsider!!!! I’ll be getting ready for my first WQS contest of the year in Newcastle Australia,I don’t Love that I don’t have internet connection, maybe a run down to Gloria Jean for internet and chai tea latte with soya milk …..okay so it’s POURING WITH RAIN OUTSIDE…..UMBRELLA ANYONE? Love to you allHope you enjoyed episode 2XOXO
EPISODE 1 of Billabong Girls Get Out There! - Tarryn Chudleigh's review.
8 strangers (‘k I’m lying…the surfers knew each other!), a big pink bus and a whole lotta coastline to cover, a couple laughs, some well thought out tactical ninja/guerilla warfare, tension, near fist fights, more laughs…maybe a couple tears (we are girls), WAVES, new clothes, photo shoots, more than one breathtakingly beautiful moment and…what do you get?
8 FRIENDS and a very interesting TV program!
So you’re thinking ‘gosh that one chick is suuuuuch a wet blanket, she deserves a kick in the head’…right?
‘And that other one with the dark hair, does she ever NOT have an opinion? AND Barbie? What on earth is she doing on a surfing road trip?!’
BUT then you would be judging without even perhaps reading the back page of the book, let alone the introduction…
This is the deal:
Conflict is darn funny - just wait for it.
I’m Tarryn Chudleigh; unfortunately not too many people get my sense of humour.
We, or should I say everyone else, started the trip in Jbay…so already I was outta the loop, because I was meant to fly up the afternoon before. But instead I got to hang out in Durban domestic departures terminal with death flu for about 6 hours, waiting for Port Elizabeth airport to reopen... mist... a plane crashed…or something along those lines. After I heard that, there was not a chance in hell I was hanging around like a dirty hippy, sleeping on the airport floor (I can park myself off on any surface and be quite comfortable).
So, I upped and left and missed the long bus drive. Ended up in Princes’ Grant pretty late at night - drove up with the camera crew who all flew up from P.E.
Can you please imagine how grumpy you would be after an ordeal like that? I’m not condoning grumpiness; it’s not a cool quality to have....BUT:
I am NOT a morning person either... questions scare me... and loud, pretty confident girls frighten the heck outta me too.
I REALLY AM I FRIENDLY PERSON I PROMISE, I’m just really shy – it’s this complex I have (enough excuses please, my ears are bleeding!).
Best part of the first couple days?
I think it is safe to say on everybody’s behalf that getting brand new, totally awesome clothes was right up there. Also, staying on the golf estate, cruising around on the golf carts and taking in the beauty of what rich people can afford was quite an experience!
Oh, and of course, meeting new people and getting to know old friends on an entirely new level.
The first person that left an impression on me was Nicky, she is a beautiful soul, pretty much the only "new girl" that gave me a chance and actually came up and started a genuine conversation. I learnt a lot from just how REAL she is, confident, but not overbearing.
I learnt a little bit of life from each person on this trip, every moment and situation highlighted that people are different, it doesn’t make you right or wrong:
IT JUST MAKES IT YOU…and what’s amazing about that? If you don’t like who you are only YOU can make that change in you. BUT ONLY YOU HAVE THAT RIGHT TO DECIDE.
I like who I am, but I believe I can be a better person.
This trip has changed my life.
I hope that maybe watching the whole show can give you the chance to decide if you want to change, or need to.
Right in this very moment I am running late, I’m off to Australia for a couple world qualifying series events.
I haven’t finished packing!
My coffin, which is a big surfboard bag, pretty much weighs a 100kg's. So I’m off.
Hope you enjoy the first episode and stay tuned for my insight over the next couple weeks.
